NFL Week 3 SU Betting Picks

NFL Week 3 SU Picks

Written by on September 19, 2017

If you prefer your NFL betting to focus on straight-up wagers, we have a list of recommendations for you to consider. We do think that the Rams will get Week Three off to a start by going up to San Francisco and taking down Brian Hoyer and the 49ers, and we also think that the Dallas Cowboys will get their heads on straight and come back from Arizona with a Monday Night Football victory. Take a look at our insights for those games — as well as the others in between.

NFL Week 3 SU Picks

Thursday, September 21

L.A. Rams at San Francisco (8:30pm ET, NBC)

If you had to pick between Brian Hoyer and Jared Goff for your fantasy football team, you’d choose Goff hands-down, right? Wouldn’t you also take Wade Phillips as your defensive coordinator? Don’t let that hiccup against the Skins distract you — take the Rams to win.

Sunday, September 24

Baltimore vs Jacksonville (9:30am ET, Yahoo!) (Wembley Stadium, London)

I’m still trying to figure out why Jacksonville sacrifices a game in their own stadium to go to London once a year. This season they face a Baltimore team that is locked in at 2-0 and has an offensive machine that will steamroll the Jaguars.

Denver at Buffalo (1:00pm ET, CBS)

No, Trevor Siemian isn’t the next John Elway. But this Bronco defense is still GOOD — and Siemian just might be serviceable enough to take this team to the top of the AFC West. Meanwhile, they will go up to Buffalo and handle Tyrod Taylor and the Bills with ease.

New Orleans at Carolina (1:00pm ET, FOX)

I’m not sure that Cam Newton is healthy enough to be playing quarterback for an NFL team right now. But with Derek Anderson and Garrett Gilbert behind Newton, does Ron Rivera have a choice? The Saints should find some openings against that Panther defense, and I like them to steal a road win.

Pittsburgh at Chicago (1:00pm ET, CBS)

What’s that? The Bears are still starting Mike Glennon at quarterback? The Steelers will shut him and the Chicago offense down, while the trio of Roethlisberger, Bell and Brown will make the Bears’ defense pay all day long.

Atlanta at Detroit (1:00pm ET, FOX)

This might be the most fun matchup of the early afternoon games to watch. Two stellar offenses, two flexible defenses. Is this when Detroit makes a statement that they are ready to be an NFC contender? At this point, that Falcons’ combination of video-game speed offense and press coverage on defense makes me give them the nod.

Cleveland at Indianapolis (1:00pm ET, CBS)

What happens if DeShone Kizer has to miss a lot of this game for a migraine headache too? Yes, the Colts will start Jacoby Brissett at quarterback again, but he’s coming off a win. I see him doing enough to get the Colts past the Cleveland challenge.

Tampa Bay at Minnesota (1:00pm ET, FOX)

Case Keenum versus Jameis Winston? I might take the Bucs by 20 if I hear that Keenum is starting for the Vikings. We saw last week how losing Sam Bradford made the Viking offense extremely one-dimensional. As long as Bradford is out, the Buccaneers win easily. Are the Bucs a safe bet in NFL Week 3?

Houston at New England (1:00pm ET, CBS)

I don’t see the New England Patriots leaving enough lanes for Deshaun Watson to scamper for another touchdown from midfield. I do see the Pats picking up where they left off in that drubbing of New Orleans to teach Houston a lesson as well.

Miami at N.Y. Jets (1:00pm ET, CBS)

The Jets just went to Oakland and lost by 25. They’re still starting Josh McCown at quarterback. The Dolphins did escape with a two-point win over the Los Angeles Chargers, but the Jets’ defense is not as good as the Chargers’. Give me the Dolphins, easily.

N.Y. Giants at Philadelphia (1:00pm ET, FOX)

This matchup could give us the early favorite in the NFC East, particularly if Dallas lays another stinker down in Arizona. Eli Manning is looking old — but a resurgence in Philly could be the difference. Can Carson Wentz outduel a two-time Super Bowl winner? I think the Eagles win b double digits here.

Seattle at Tennessee (4:05pm ET, FOX)

Pete Carroll has the Seahawks at a 2-10 September record in his career playing away from home. They visit a Tennessee team that trounced Jacksonville last week and builds offensive confidence with each passing game. Give me the Titans.

Cincinnati at Green Bay (4:25pm ET, CBS)

Angry Aaron Rodgers gets to come home after taking a hide-tanning in Atlanta and then take out his anger on a Cincinnati team that couldn’t find the end zone against Houston. Give me Green Bay all day long.

Kansas City at L.A. Chargers (4:25pm ET, CBS)

The Chargers couldn’t keep Jay Cutler and the Dolphins from outscoring them. How do they expect to stop the red-hot Alex Smith and the Chiefs — especially when their own “home” stadium is going to be full of Chiefs fans, since their own fans aren’t coming north of the San Diego Zoo? Give me the Chiefs.

Oakland at Washington (8:30pm ET, NBC)

Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders are laser-focused on another division title — and a playoff run that doesn’t feature a third-string quarterback. They should torch the Washington secondary, but they will need to make sure they can stop the Redskin running game. I like the Raiders to win here.

Monday, September 25

Dallas at Arizona (8:30pm ET, ESPN)

That big head that the Cowboys developed after that win over the Giants should be back in reality after taking that demolition at the hands of Denver last week. Will the Dallas offensive line show up? Will their defensive line show any resolve? Will their secondary cover? Against an Arizona offense missing its star running back and featuring the erratic Carson Palmer? I say yes to a Dallas win.
