NFL Week 4 Picks: Early Predictions for Every Game

Written by on August 3, 2017

This week we’ve been looking at every NFL betting call for the early weeks of the 2017 season, and today we turn our attention to Week 4. I’ll predict by now that one big-name quarterback has already gone down to injury and that one awful team has surprised everyone by jumping out to a 3-0 start (but it won’t be the Jets). Take a look at our picks for NFL Week 4.

NFL Week 4 Picks: Early Predictions for Every Game

Thursday, September 28

Chicago Bears (+9.5) at Green Bay Packers

The trend of teams playing poorly on Thursday nights should be in place by Week 4 — and few teams will play as poorly as the Bears this season. However, the rivalry at Lambeau should make this a spirited effort by the Monsters of the Midway. I think Green Bay wins in NFL Week 4…but Chicago covers.

Sunday, October 1

New Orleans Saints (+3) vs Miami Dolphins in London

Again, that trip to London causes a lot of player distractions. Miami has a solid defense and a great running back in Jay Ajayi. The Saints have Drew Brees and a shaky secondary. Give me the Fish to win and cover.

Buffalo Bills (+7.5) at Atlanta Hawks

This shapes up as a bit of a trap game for the Falcons, and the Bills’ offense should be up and running by this point. The Falcons win, but the Bills cover.

Pittsburgh Steelers (-1.5) at Baltimore Orioles

The Ravens’ defense makes a big stand against Big Ben as Baltimore moves toward their AFC North title. Give me Baltimore to win at home.

Cincinnati Bengals (-3.5) at Cleveland Browns

The Browns finally chalk one up in the win column when the hapless Bengals come to town…and youth is served while an aging Bengals defense piles undisciplined play on top of simple mistakes.

L.A. Rams (+12.5) at Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys’ defense will not be as good as the Rams’, but the Dallas offensive line should keep the Rams’ offense off the field. Give me the Cowboys to drive methodically to a rout and cover.

Tennessee Titans (+3) at Houston Texans

Houston has a strong defense, but I see the Titans coming in and taking advantage of some disarray on the Texans’ offensive side of the ball. Give me Tennessee to win and cover.

Detroit Lions (+3) at Minnesota Vikings

Dalvin Cook and the Vikings offense have the tools to run all over Detroit, even if Sam Bradford has an off game. The Lions really don’t have an answer in their running game — or in their defense. I like the Vikes to win and cover in NFL Week 4. Are the Vikings a safe bet for NFL Week 4?

Carolina Panthers (+9) at New England Patriots

It will be about time for the Patriots to cough up a puzzling loss against an NFC opponent, like they did at home against Seattle last year. I don’t think the Panthers can seal a win, but I do see them covering while the Pats rally late.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+1) at N.Y. Jets

The AFC’s Toilet Bowl takes the field on October 1. I think the Jets will win simply because they didn’t have to travel, but I definitely think about taking the under as neither offense is impressive at all.

San Francisco 49ers (+9) at Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers will either see Brian Hoyer throw four picks in this game or see Blaine Gabbert fumble twice — and it might be both. The Cardinals’ defense and running game will take them to a win and cover.

Philadelphia Phillies (+1.5) at L.A. Chargers

Philip Rivers should be able to slice and dice that Eagle defense, while Carson Wentz doesn’t quite have what it takes to outduel one of the great NFL hurlers. I’ll take the Chargers to win and cover.

N.Y. Giants (+2.5) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston and DeSean Jackson should have a field day with this Giants secondary, and the Bucs’ defense should contain Eli Manning & Co. as long as they can rush the passer. I like the Bucs to win and cover in NFL Week 4.

Oakland Raiders (+2) at Denver Broncos

This will be a growth moment for Derek Carr and the rest of the Raiders. Can they take down the Broncos at Sports Authority Field? The Broncos’ defense will be down with the loss of Wade Phillips, and the Raiders have only gotten stronger. I like the Greatness to win and cover.

Indianapolis Colts (+7) at Seattle Seahawks

The Legion of Boom still has enough force left to deal Andrew Luck and the Colts a resounding loss in this one. I like the Seahawks to win and cover.

Monday, October 2

Washington (+5) at Kansas City

Kansas City is better at game management — and the Redskins don’t really have much of a defense. I like the Chiefs to win and cover.
