NFL Week 4 SU Betting Picks & Predictions

Written by on September 27, 2023

The Jacksonville Jaguars start an unprecedented two-game stretch of games in London, starting with the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday at Wembley Stadium and continuing with the Buffalo Bills next Sunday at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Two key players who might miss both games are wide receiver Zay Jones (right knee) and linebacker Devin Lloyd (thumb). Lloyd was the team’s 27th overall pick in the 2022 draft and has started every game in 2023, with a fumble recovery and 19 tackles. He was injured in the team’s Week 3 loss to Houston. Jones went down during the Week 2 home loss to Kansas City and was replaced by Jamal Agney and Tim Jones. With that in mind, here are some of our top NFL SU Picks.

Atlanta Falcons vs Jacksonville Jaguars

When: Sunday, October 1, 2023, 9:30 am ET
Where: Wembley Stadium, London
TV/Live Stream: ESPN+

Both of these teams lost in Week 3, and the Jaguars’ 20-point home loss to a Houston team that has yet to assemble a competitive NFL-level roster has to be particularly concerning. This is a “home” game for the Jaguars, but the distractions of international travel and the fact that the stadium will not be loaded with Jaguar faithful mean that there will be less momentum than what one might expect. Jacksonville is eighth in the NFL in defending the run (84.0 yards per game), and the Falcons are a run-heavy team. Jacksonville is accustomed to playing in London each year, and they have the better passing game, even though it didn’t produce much last week. Jaguars to win.

Denver Broncos at Chicago Bears

When: Sunday, October 1, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Soldier Field, Chicago, IL
TV/Live Stream: CBS

It’s hard to imagine two more dispirited teams than these two, but the good news is that both squads can’t lose again this week. Denver got tattooed, 70-20, last week, giving up more points than any NFL team had since 1966 and becoming just the fourth NFL team ever to give up 70 or more points in a game. Chicago went to the woodshed courtesy of the Kansas City Chiefs, 41-10. Given that both defenses are iffy, the next question has to do with ball security. Justin Fields is more turnover-prone than Russell Wilson, which is why I’m taking the Broncos here. Broncos to win.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans

When: Sunday, October 1, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN
TV/Live Stream: FOX

Both of these teams are 1-2, but the Bengals looked a lot more resurgent in their Monday night win over the Rams than the Titans did. Joe Burrow has a 3-0 career record against the Titans, including games in the postseason, averaging 289 passing yards in those games. The Bengals’ passing game looked a little bit better against the Rams, while the Tennessee offense looks stuck in molasses, which it really shouldn’t be with DeAndre Hopkins and Derrick Henry in the unit. Bengals to win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints

When: Sunday, October 1, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, LA
TV/Live Stream: FOX

Derek Carr went down with a sprained AC joint against the Packers last week, and so a 17-0 Saints lead at the half turned into an 18-17 win for Green Bay. Jameis Winston was the New Orleans quarterback in the second half, and to say he struggled against the Packers’ secondary is an understatement. The Buccaneers have a solid defense, and in Weeks 1 and 2, they got solid play out of Baker Mayfield. This could be a grinding game, and I like Mayfield to emerge a winner from this sort of tussle. Buccaneers to win.
