NFL Week 9 ATS Betting Picks & Predictions

Written by on October 31, 2023

Don’t look now, but the Jacksonville Jaguars are emerging as real contenders in the AFC. They went a perfect 5-0 in October, ending with a 20-10 win in Pittsburgh on Sunday. They have a seven-game road winning streak and sit at 6-2, tied with four other clubs for the league’s second-best record. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has put up a quarterback rating of at least 91 in every game in October. A year ago, the Jags went 0-5 in October before going on a 7-2 run to win the division, beat the Chargers on the road in the wild-card round and push Kansas City hard in the divisional playoff. The only teams that have a better winning percentage over that time frame in the regular season are Kansas City, San Francisco and Philadelphia. They come out of the bye next week to face San Francisco, losers of three in a row heading into their own bye week. Check out our top NFL Week 9 ATS.

2023 NFL Week 9 ATS Picks: Since November 1 of last year, the Jaguars are 13-4 in regular-season games.

Arizona Cardinals +8 at Cleveland Browns O/U 38.5
Minnesota Vikings +1 at Atlanta Falcons O/U 41.5
L.A. Rams +3 at Green Bay Packers O/U 39.5
Indianapolis Colts -2.5 at Carolina Panthers O/U 44

Arizona Cardinals at Cleveland Browns

When: Sunday, November 5, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Cleveland Browns Stadium, Cleveland, OH
TV/Live Stream: CBS

We have an update on this game as the Cardinals have announced that quarterback Joshua Dobbs is headed to the bench. In his place, the team will either start University of Houston product Clayton Tune or (in the highly unlikely event that he is cleared and ready) Kyler Murray. Either way, we have a defense featuring Denzel Ward, Grant Delpit and Myles Garrett against either a third-string quarterback or an extremely rusty Murray. The Browns also know how Arizona OC Drew Petzing works, as Petzing was the quarterbacks coach in Cleveland last year. Even without Deshaun Watson at quarterback, Cleveland should feast – and buy in a hurry because this line was Cleveland -7 just yesterday. Browns to win and cover.

NFL Week 9 Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons

When: Sunday, November 5, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, GA
TV/Live Stream: FOX

I’m surprised that this line is just a point; it will start moving soon, so buy sooner than later. Why? The Minnesota Vikings lost quarterback Kirk Cousins for the season to a torn Achilles tendon. The Falcons have a bit of a quandary at quarterback themselves, but Taylor Heinicke looked solid in relief of Desmond Ridder last week, leading the Falcons on a furious comeback that came up just short against the Titans. The Vikings aren’t that good against the run, so the Falcons can pound the ball on the ground and set the rhythm of the game. The Vikings are likely to have Nick Mullens or rookie Jaren Hall running the offense, so the Falcons shouldn’t have that hard a time getting stops. Falcons to win and cover.

NFL Week 9 L.A. Rams at Green Bay Packers

When: Sunday, November 5, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI
TV/Live Stream: FOX

For the Rams, Matthew Stafford is questionable after injuring his thumb and having to leave the Dallas game last week. The Green Bay defense looks pretty stout, but the offense could contribute more. Quarterback Jordan Love and his young group of wide receivers are struggling to produce, particularly with tailback Aaron Jones also having a hard time getting back from injury. The Rams can run the ball but rely more on the passing game, which could put more expectations on the shoulders of Brett Rypien. Packers to win and cover.

NFL Week 9 Indianapolis Colts at Carolina Panthers

When: Sunday, November 5, 2023, 4:05 pm ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
TV/Live Stream: CBS

The Colts are getting tailback Jonathan Taylor back to full strength, which could make this a long day for the Carolina run defense, which isn’t particularly good. Bryce Young played well for the Panthers last week, but his receiver group isn’t as good as what Gardner Minshew has with the Colts. The Colts have dropped two tough games at home and will have some frustrations to work out, which will lead to the end of Carolina’s one-game winning streak. Colts to win and cover.
