My favorite? Dunkirk recreated the feel of World War II and the intense danger of this evacuation so that I felt the same claustrophobia as the characters. But I still need to see “The Shape of Water.” The Best Actor category has Gary Oldman (“Darkest Hour”) at a 1-14 favorite, and the Best Actress category has Frances McDormand “(Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri” at a 1-6 favorite. Given how those movies did at the Golden Globes and the critical reception, it’s hard to argue against them — but it’s also hard to make any money. So focus on the two biggest categories, unless you want to go into the lower categories.
