Colorado at Dallas (8:30 pm ET, ESPN+)

Colorado is stumbling into Dallas on a four-game skid, with losses to Anaheim, Florida, Dallas and Arizona. The most recent loss came on Saturday in Phoenix as the Coyotes rolled to an easy 3-0 win. — a day after Colorado lost, 2-1, at home to Dallas. In the loss to Arizona, Colorado could not score despite having six minutes of man advantage during a 9:56 stretch during the second period. The Avalanche started the season 8-0-2 but have only scored six goals over their last four games. Dallas started the season 2-7-1 but is now 7-8-1, and welcome the Avs riding a three-game winning streak, beating Minnesota, Colorado and Montreal by a combined score of 14-5. In their win over the Canadiens on Saturday, Dallas got their first goal on a penalty shot in almost two years, from Denis Gurianov, and 35 saves from goalie Ben Bishop. Gurianov also scored on the power play to get his fourth goal of the season. Dallas is hot right now — but can they stop the Avalanche twice in three games? Final Score Prediction: Dallas 4, Colorado 2 Wednesday, November 6 Detroit at N.Y. Rangers (8:00 pm ET, NBC Sports) The rebuild continues in Detroit, as the team sits in seventh place in the Atlantic Division and has dropped three of four, including a loss to St. Louis, a win over Edmonton — and then a pair of ugly losses to Carolina and Florida in which the Red Wings lost by a combined 11-3. On Saturday, Florida delivered a 4-0 shutout. The Red Wings did not do much on offense, only sending 22 shots on net, mostly from distance and without traffic in front of the goal. Jonathan Bernier stopped 37 shots for the Red Wings, but they are still 1-9-1 in their last 11. Now the Red Wings host Nashville on Monday night before heading east to face the Rangers. New York is also off to a slow start, sitting in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division, but they have won two in a row, beating Tampa Bay and Nashville (two teams seen as contenders) by a combined 6-2 score. On Saturday, they beat the Predators on the road, as Alexandar Georgiev stopped 32 shots for the Blueshirts. Filip Chytil and Ryan Strome lit the lamp for New York, who also stopped three Nashville power plays in the third period — including a pair in the last five minutes of regulation. Chytil has played lights out since coming up from Hartford on October 28, scoring in each of the games in which he has appeared. If you like New York, you see this recent defensive trend continuing against a Detroit team that is struggling mightily to find the back of the net. Final Score Prediction: New York 3, Detroit 1
