NHL Lines: Will Home Team Win Again in Avalanche vs Panthers?

Written by on October 26, 2015

When the NHL schedule is released, teams cross their fingers and hope that they are looked upon favorably by the schedule makers. That usually means getting a bunch of home games at the start of the season, as that represents the opportunity to get off to a winning start. The Colorado Avalanche have had the majority of their starts at home so far, but they now have to go on the road to face the Panthers in Florida on Tuesday night.

Avalanche vs Panthers: NHL Lines and Game Preview

Date: Tuesday, October 27, 2015 Time: 7:30PM Venue: BB&T Center Opening Line: Florida -142 If the Colorado Avalanche (2-4-1) were hoping to seize an early season advantage with all those home games, they failed. Colorado are already well adrift of the pack at the bottom of the Central Division, and only managed to go 1-3-1 at home. They now have three games on the road ahead of them, and they are heading out there having lost 3 straight. As if that were not bad enough, Colorado has 11 of their next 14 games on the road, and face the possibility of being dead and buried in the Central Division before the month of November draws to a close. The Avalanche started the season looking as though they were going to be an offensive juggernaut, but the goals dried up pretty quickly, as did their power play, which is starting to go on the slide. If you are a team relying heavily on a 38-year Jarome Iginla for your offense, you may have a problem. Iginla has been good, but he should not be the one carrying the load. colorado-avalanche The Florida Panthers (4-3-1) are another team leaning heavily on a veteran player, as Jaromir Jagr appears to have turned the clock back with his 6G and 4A to start the season. The Panthers have a solid mix of youth and veteran guys, though, and they seem to be rolling over the lines quickly to get everyone as much playing time as possible. Willie Mitchell is the only guy on the team who is averaging more than 20 minutes of ice time per game. It seems to be working for them, as Florida are a bit of a surprise at 3rd in the Atlantic Division. They have a pretty balanced team, and are top 10 in both goals scored and conceded through their first 8 games. It’s a long season, but this start has to have Florida fans feeling a little optimistic about what lies ahead. Jaromir-Jagr

Key Betting Trends

Colorado is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games Florida is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games

So, What Should You Bet On?

It had been the road team that has come away with the win in the last 4 meetings, but I’m not sure that trend will continue. I like the Panthers to get the win in what should be a close game.
