NHL Betting Report on New Jersey at Tampa Bay

On Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Lightning welcome the New Jersey Devils to sunny Florida for some NHL betting action. The Lightning (44-28-5, 93 points) are in second place in the Atlantic Division but just got shut out at home by the Montreal Canadiens, 3-0, on Thursday night. The Devils (37-33-8, 82 points) are in seventh place in the Metropolitan Division and just lost in Florida, 3-2, on Thursday night.

Why Should You Bet on the Lightning?

Tampa Bay just saw the Florida Panthers slip past them into first place in the Atlantic Division. The Lightning had been in first place since finishing a huge run up the standings in January and February, but now the Panthers have caught fire as well. The Lightning had an impressive 3-0 win over Toronto earlier in the week, but a home shutout loss to the Canadiens (and no, they didn’t have Carey Price in goal, that was Mike Condon posting the clean sheet) should shake them up and get them ready to pour the offense on against the Devils.

Why Should You Put Your Money on New Jersey?

The Devils posted an impressive 2-1 home win over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, and losing by one at Florida, the Atlantic Division leaders, isn’t shabby by any means. However, the Devils will need to pour on the offense if they want to have a chance in Tampa. They are good on the power play (#8, 20.7%), so if they can draw an early penalty or two, they should be able to get some solid chances at the back of the net. The Lightning are at a point where they could crumble and head back down the standings or keep pace with Florida.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’m picking the Devils to rack up an upset down in Tampa on Saturday. I’m predicting an early goal and then some salty defense, leading to a 2-1 Devils victory.
