NHL Game Preview and Betting Analysis

The Atlantic Division leading Tampa Bay Lightning take their top-ranked offense on the road to Nashville on Tuesday, and they have to be coming in on something of a high after knocking off the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 on Sunday. If the Lightning have had a weakness this season, it has to be their play on the road, where they have compiled a 12-11-4 record. That makes this next stretch of games all the more important, as 6 of the next 7 come on the road. The return home for a game with the St. Louis Blues right after this one, before packing their bags and heading out for 6 straight. They are holding on to a slim lead in the Atlantic Division over Montreal and Detroit, and will need a solid road trip if they want to maintain that position.

This is not going to be an easy task for Tampa Bay, especially when you consider that the first team they have to face is the Nashville Predators, who just happen to have the best record in the league. The Predators have been particularly dominant on home ice, going 21-3-1 on the season. They have recovered nicely from a minor bump in the road where they lost 4 of 5, going on to win 4 of their last 5, whilst rediscovering their scoring touch in the process. Nashville has the 3rd best defense in the league, so it’s going to be fun to see how they hold up against a team that certainly knows how to light the lamp. The Predators have a 4-point lead over St. Louis in the Central Division, and will be looking to pad that a little with a win here.

What Should You Be Betting On?

It is impossible not to look at the home and away records of each of these teams when trying to look for a betting edge. The Lightning struggle on the road, while Nashville are borderline unbeatable at home. That is more than enough for me to give the edge to the Predators in this one.
