On Thursday night, the Nashville Predators host the San Jose Sharks in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series. The Predators trimmed their series deficit to 2-1 with a 4-1 spanking of the Sharks. Patrick Marleau used his amazing speed to zip into the zone and slide the puck around Pekka Rinne to give the Sharks the early lead, but then the Predators got a power play goal from James Neal, a slapper from Shea Weber and two more goals in the third period. Why Should You Bet on San Jose?
Martin Jones continues to be one of the great stories of this postseason. Last year, he was the backup goalie for the Los Angeles Kings, but this year he outdueled his mentor, Jonathan Quick, in the first round and has been solid against Nashville too. Four goals did get in, but those were all of the variety that are almost impossible to stop, as Neal, Weber and Forsberg have dynamite shots and found the small corners of the goal. He stoned Anthony Bitteto, Ryan Johansen, Roman Josi and Mike Fisher (not once but twice) on point-blank scoring chances and is one reason why the Sharks are still around.
Why Should You Put Your Money on the Predators?
Finally, the Predators’ power play got off life support. They had gone 2-for- 31 so far in the postseason, and a lot of that frustration had to do with the top-rated penalty kill that Anaheim featured in the first round. However, the Sharks have a devastating power play, and the Predators needed to match. So when they got a double minor on the Sharks, they finally cashed in. They also got a power play goal out of Filip Forsberg in the third period. They also shut down the Sharks on the man advantage, killing off all four Shark power plays.
3Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
This is a plucky Nashville team that does not go down easily. I like them to even the series with a 3-2 win and head back to San Jose with a ton of momentum.
