They were thoroughly outplayed and outworked by the New Jersey Devils in their last outing, going down 5-1 in a horribly one-sided affair. This recent turn of events must be terribly disappointing for the Hurricanes, as they had been putting in some decent efforts even though it was well known that they were a team likely to be in the hunt for the first overall draft pick next year. Fans can only hope that this is not the beginning of a perilous slide to the bottom.
