Rangers vs. Lightning

NHL Odds Preview: Rangers vs Lightning Game 6

If we have learned anything from watching the New York Rangers during this postseason, it’s that they don’t seem to believe in making things easy for themselves. They have found countless ways to win 1-goal games and beat the NHL odds, and have dug themselves out of holes of their own making. After Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final, they are now in another hole that may well be too deep to climb out of.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Rangers vs Lightning Game 6

Date/Time: Tuesday, May 26th, 8:00 PM Location: Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida TV: CBC, TVA, NBCSN Odds: TBA The Rangers have relied on great goaltending and solid defense to get this far in the playoffs, and it has been a necessity, as the big scorers on their team have simply not shown up. It all caught up with them in Games 2 and 3 of this series, as they were shelled by Lightning who scored 6 goals in each of those games. It looked as though they had figured out how to break down the President’s Trophy winners, but the Rangers reverted to form by winning Game 4 by a score of 5-1 in Tampa, and they even had Rick Nash get on the score sheet twice. It was all set up perfectly for them to head back to MSG on a roll for Game 5, but they put in arguably their worst effort of the playoffs in a 2-0 loss that sees them on the brink of elimination.
The Lightning may be just a single win away from the Stanley Cup Final, but you can bet that they will not be taking anything for granted just yet. The homework that they have done on the Rangers has to include the tenacity of their opponents, who were able to come back from a 3-1 series deficit to knock off the Washington Capitals in the previous round. The Lightning are good value for their series lead, though, as they found a way to shut down the Rangers power play in Game 5, whilst also taking advantage of a team that didn’t really look up for the fight. Tampa bay can now give their fans something to really cheer about when they take to their home ice on Tuesday night knowing that one more home win will see them move on to face either the Ducks or the Blackhawks.
