Top NHL Parlay Picks of the Week (Dec 6 – 11)

Edmonton at Buffalo, Tuesday, December 6, 7:00 PM ET

NHL Pick: Edmonton

Both the Oilers and Sabres have struggled lately, but we fancy Edmonton to get the job done in this Tuesday brawl. Not only are the Oilers coming into this game extra-rested, but they’ll be taking a tired Sabres team that suffered an exhausting OT defeat to Washington on Monday and is playing on the second night of a back-to- back. In addition, the Sabres have been a poor home team with a 4-5- 3 record in their home ice as opposed to the Oilers who spot a solid 8-4- 2 road record. Throw in the additional fact that the Oilers have won four of their last five against the Sabres, it’s hard not to like Edmonton for the win here.

Arizona at Chicago, Tuesday, December 6, 8:30 PM ET

NHL Pick: Chicago

The absence of Chicago captain Jonathan Toews and goalie Corey Crawford is affecting the Blackhawks psychologically and game-wise on both sides of the puck; a key reason Chicago has gone 2-2- 1 in its last 5 games, including no regulation-time win since November 25th. That said, Scott Darling has been serviceable in between the sticks for the Hawks and we expect him to play well enough against the skidding Coyotes, who are streaking on three losses and rank poorly at #26 in the nation with 2.3 goals scored per game. Not to forget, Arizona is winless in Chicago in regulation time for the last five years and the Coyotes are coming off a demolishing Monday night loss to Columbus, which should mean plenty of motivation for the home-solid Hawks (10-2-2 at home this season) to fly away with the win this Tuesday.

Carolina at Anaheim, Wednesday, December 7, 10:30 PM ET

NHL Pick: Anaheim

Getting thrashed 8-3 by the Calgary Flames certainly left a bad taste in the mouths of the Ducks. But then again, we should have expected the Flames to be fully psyched for a hot revenge show in Canada after the Ducks beat the Flames 8-3 at home in March this year. All told, the Ducks are good for a 7-4- 1 home record, a 5-1 record in their last 6 overall meetings against the Canes and 4-1 in their last 5 home games against Carolina. On that account, plus the fact that Carolina is 0-4- 1 in its last 5 road contests; we feel that Anaheim should be able to bounce back with a solid home win when it hosts the Hurricanes on Wednesday.

Pittsburgh at Florida, Thursday, December 8, 7:30 PM ET

NHL Pick: Florida

As the second highest scoring team in the NHL with hot sticks from proven goal-scorers like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, the Pens will always be a dangerous team to face. That should especially be the case when they face new coach Tom Rowe and his Florida team that is grappling for consistency and has scored just eight goals in the team’s last six games. But even with their offensive challenges, the Panther should have plenty of opportunities to put up a decent number of goals against the leaky Pens defense (ranked #26 scoring defense at 3.0 goals allowed per game) that has given up 8 goals in its last 2 games entering Tuesday. At home and with the pressure of wanting to get one for their new coach, we expect Florida to put up a strong fight, with the solid Panther defense playing well enough at the back and the offense also playing its part with some opportunistic scores. FYI, despite its struggles, Florida is 7-4- 0 at home while the Pens are just 5-5 on the road in spite of being one of the hottest teams in the nation. Certainly a great spot for the Panthers to shock the Pens.

New Jersey at Montreal, Thursday, December 8, 7:30 PM ET

NHL Pick: Montreal

The nation-leading Canadiens have been pure money at home this season with an NHL-best 12-1-1 home record, and we like them to reward us with a win on Thursday when host New Jersey after finishing their five-game road trip that will end at St. Louis on Tuesday. Besides being a shaky road team (with a 4-7- 4 mark away from home this season), the Devils have historically struggled against Montreal, putting them in a tough spot against the hot Canadiens.
