Your Guide to Paris 2024 Olympic Betting: Props, Medals & Other Bets

The 2024 Summer Olympics are set to open officially with a ceremony on July 26 and continue until August 11, although some competitions will begin a couple of days early and here, at Xbet.ag we have the Olympic Betting Props.

The main host city is Paris, although 16 other cities will host events, and Tahiti – an island in French Polynesia – will host surfing.

Paris will become the second city to host three Summer Games after London (1908, 1948 and 2012).

Breakdancing is an Olympic event for the first time, and skateboarding, surfing and sport climbing will all return after making their debut at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Let’s look at some of the many sports betting props that you can choose when wagering on the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad.

Olympic Betting Props on Medals and Other Specials

Men’s Basketball

Team USA is a strong favorite (-500) to win their fifth straight Olympic gold medal.

Anthony Edwards, of the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves, has branded himself the team’s “first scoring option” despite a wealth of talent on the team.

LeBron James is on the roster and has indicated that this will be his final Olympic appearance.

Bam Adebayo, Devin Booker, Steph Curry, Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Haliburton, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum and Derrick White round out the roster, which has more NBA star power than it has had in other recent Olympic Games.

Serbia +700

Is the second betting favorite. They got the silver back in 2016 but did not get to the Olympics in Tokyo.

The third betting favorite is Team Canada (+1000). They have Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the top scorer for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder, and Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets. They met Team USA in an exhibition on Wednesday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and had an early lead but ended up falling, 86-72.

Super Book Olympics oddsmaker Joe Tatka says these Olympics aren’t like 1992 and 1996 when men’s basketball opened to pros. Despite NBA players on most teams, US should easily win gold.

Some differences between the international game and the NBA game include a heavy reliance on zone defense. In the NBA, teams can play a zone defense, but no player on defense can occupy the free-throw lane for more than three seconds at a time.

In international play, the free-throw lane is larger (shaped like a trapezoid, with the baseline side wider than the free-throw line side), and there is no rule against camping out under the basket.

That means that teams will try to clog the lane to take away the Americans’ advantage inside and force them to win via outside shooting. A lot of international teams have developed sharpshooters, which has led to some frustration for American teams in the past.

The fact that the American roster was just put together, and the team doesn’t know each other all that well in terms of playing together can also play a role.

Even so, I wouldn’t bet heavy on anyone other than the United States – and the Americans don’t offer a ton of value. It might be more profitable to look at head-to-head games in basketball group play and the knockout rounds.

Women’s Soccer

There was a time when the United States dominated this sport, but the Olympic gold has not gone back to America since 2012.

Team USA are favored (+150), although Spain (+220) and France (+400) are both right there.

The world has caught up, but the women’s side in the United States has also improved since the U.S. Soccer Federation showed coach Vlatko Andonovski the door and brought in Emma Hayes, who picked her first roster just in May and left off Olympic veteran Alex Morgan for these games.

It will be interesting to see how team chemistry works and how the team plays for Hayes.

Olympic Betting Props Men’s Track & Field

100m Dash

Kishane Thompson (+150) of Jamaica is a slight favorite to win, although American Noah Lyles (+185) is right behind him. Thompson’s times at the Jamaican trials were so impressive that he’s been drawing almost all the betting action to this point.

200m Dash

Noah Lyles (-220) is the heavy favorite to win his first gold at this distance.

Olympic Betting Props Women’s Track & Field

100m Dash

Sha’Carri Richardson (-200) is the favorite to win the gold medal after winning the U.S. time trial. She has run the fastest times in the world in 2024, so it would take either a slip on her part or a considerable leap by a competitor for her to lose.

Shericka Jackson (+400) of Jamaica is the second choice, although an injury in a 200-meter race ahead of the Olympics makes Jackson a risky choice.

200m Dash

Jackson was the favorite in this race over Gabby Thomas of the United States, but a recent injury in a 200m race makes her a dicey pick in either event.

Most Gold Medals

The United States (-600) is the heavy favorite to walk away with the most gold medals. The only close choice is China (+450) with every other country sitting at +5000 or higher.

This is due to the sheer number of athletes that both countries send to the games. For the United States, the over/under for golds is 40.5; for China, it’s 34.5.

A gold medal total that has moved considerably is the one for Great Britain, which opened at 19.5 but has fallen to 15.5 after heavy betting on the under side.

In the last three Summer Olympics, Great Britain has won between 22 and 29 gold medals, but the betting public thinks that a major correction is in order.

This is an area where savvy bettors could find an imbalance.

Opening Ceremony – Who Will Carry the Flag for Team USA?

Here are some of the odds you can get. Obviously, this is a huge honor, but this is a bet that basically involves trying to get inside the brains of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

  • Simone Biles -500
  • Yianni Diakomihalis +600
  • Katie Ledecky
  • Noah Lyles +1000
  • Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone +1400
  • Katie Grimes +1400
  • Jade Carey +1400
  • Jordan Chiles +1400
  • Naomi Girma +1400
  • Sophia Smith +1400
  • Sunny Choi +1400
  • Dare Rose +1400
  • Griffin Colapinto
  • Anna Hall +1600
  • Nic Fink +1800
  • Jimmer Fredette +1800
  • Shilese Jones +2000
  • Sha’Carri Richardson +2000

Biles has as much Olympic hardware as almost any American athlete in Olympic history, and her successful return in gymnastics is also an amazing story, so she’s the heavy favorite for a reason. Diakomihalis, a wrestler, is making his Olympic debut.

Ledecky is participating in what may be her last Summer Games, and her success in swimming makes her an historic choice also.

Between Biles and Ledecky, they have a total of 65 World Championship and Olympic medals.

Will someone drop the Olympic Torch in France? Yes +600

In 2016, the torch actually got dropped several times on the way to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

Paris has multiple protests going on right now, including one saying that the Seine River is too polluted for the swimming events that are scheduled to take place there.

Paris’ mayor has promised to dive into the river to show it is safe, and France is known for having some chaos in its protests, so this is a wager worth taking.
