Olympic Swimming Odds Women’s 100m Freestyle

  • Mollie O’Callaghan (AUS) +108
  • Siobhan Haughey (HKG) +224
  • Sarah Sjostrom (SWE) +490
  • Marrit Steenbergen (NED) +580
  • Shayna Jack (AUS) +960

O’Callaghan is the favorite here, with a 47.6% implied chance to take the gold.

Her Olympic debut came at Tokyo 2020, and she won a pair of golds and a bronze, including playing a key role in the Australian command of team relay races.

They won the 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays in Japan. She also won the 100m and 200m freestyle golds at the same World Championships, a feat that no woman had ever accomplished before.

She also got gold at the 2024 NSW Championships, AUS Championships and the Olympic Trials. Her latest time, 52.33 seconds, in the 100m is elite.

That’s almost a half-second better than the best time that Siobhan Haughey has posted recently (52.72). Haughey’s career best is 52.33.

Olympic Swimming Odds Women’s 800m Freestyle

  • Katie Ledecky (USA) -625
  • Ariarne Titmus (AUS) +420
  • Lani Pallister (AUS) +1100
  • Li Bingjie (CHN) +1425
  • Simona Quadarella (ITA) +1425

Ledecky already has seven gold medals in her trophy case and has an implied chance of 79.2% to win this race.

Katie might go on and race in 2028 when the Olympics will be in the United States, but she could also be ready to hang the goggles up after these Games.

She is just the eighth American swimmer ever to qualify for four different Olympic Games.

In Tokyo, she won the gold with a time of 8:12.57, and she also won the 1500m freestyle.

Ledecky leads all female swimmers with 21 world championship titles, and she has won the last nine events that she has entered, including a dominant win in the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials.

She posted an 8:14.12 time in the 800m free. At the 2024 TYR Pro Series TX, she posted an 8:12.95 time. Her main rival is Ariarne Titmus, who posted an 8:14.06 at the Australian Olympic trials.

Her two prior races saw her finish at 8:17.87 and 8:17.80, so Ledecky has a bit more consistency right now.

The last time they faced off was the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, and Ledecky won the 800m freestyle with an 8:08.87.

She is the only swimmer ever to win six straight world titles in any event.

Over the last 13 years, the last woman to beat Ledecky in the 800m freestyle is Canadian Summer McIntosh, but the Canadian prodigy is not in these Olympics.

Olympic Swimming Odds Men’s 100m Freestyle

  • Pan Zhanle (CHN) -109
  • David Popovici (ROM) +206
  • Jack Alexy (USA) +560
  • Kyle Chalmers (AUS) +730
  • Chris Guiliano (USA) +1275

Pan Zhanle currently holds the world record in the men’s 100m freestyle, although he is just a slight favorite over David Popovici.

Zhanle set his record at the 2024 World Championships, swimming the distance in 46.80 seconds in the 4x100m freestyle.

He had a 46.97 time at the 2023 Asian Games to become just the third swimmer to get under 47 seconds in this time.

Popovici had held the world record before Zhanle took it away. At the 2024 LEN Championships, though, he posted a 46.88 time, better than Zhanle’s more recent times.
