Arsenal vs Liverpool 2019 EPL Odds, Preview & Pick
When: Saturday, August 24, 2019, 12:30pm ET Where: Anfield, Liverpool, England TV: NBC Radio: None Live Stream: ESPN+ Soccer Odds: Liverpool -250 / Arsenal +550 / Draw +400 Why should you bet on Arsenal? Arsenal got off to a quick start against visiting Burnley FC last week, as Alexandre Lacazette found the back of the net in the 13th minute. However, Ashley Barnes brought the visitors level with a score just before halftime. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang delivered the game-winner in the 64th minute, as the Gunners held on for the win. Burnley FC launched more shots than Arsenal (18-15), but the Gunners were on target more often (9-5) and dominated possession, holding the ball for 68 percent of the match, and they completed 83 percent of their passes, to just 64 percent for Burnley. Aubameyang has now scored in each of Arsenal’s wins to start the 2019-20 campaign. Arsenal struggled at times on the attack last year, and having a dangerous threat at the top of the offense will make them more of a threat to the other EPL contenders this season. When these last two teams met, Liverpool rolled to a 5-1 win, as Roberto Firmino put up a hat trick for the Reds. Even so, Arsenal looks a lot more confident in the early going than they did down the stretch last season. Why should you put your money on Liverpool? Liverpool also won in 2-1 fashion last week, delivering the victory at Southampton. Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Reds in extra time during the first half, and then Roberto Firmino added an insurance tally in the 71st minute. Danny Ings made things interesting for the hosts by scoring in the 83rd minute, but Liverpool was able to stave off the Southampton pressure and hold on for the win. Liverpool outshot Southampton 15-14 (6-3 on target) and controlled the ball for 64 percent of the game. They also won the passing accuracy battle, 78 percent to 64 percent, and they generated 9 corners to five for Southampton, showing the pressure that Liverpool was able to bring. Liverpool will get all they want from an Arsenal team that has shown it can attack. The fact that Firmino is finding the back of the net in the early going is an encouraging sign for the Reds, and they get to face Arsenal at home here. So long as Liverpool can keep things clean on the back line, they should be able to generate enough pressure up top to get the win. Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction I’m very impressed with the improvements that Arsenal has made, at least in the early going here, but remember that Liverpool just won the Champions League. So while Arsenal looks like it will contend, at least in the early going, Liverpool is firing on all cylinders. I expect the Arsenal attack to do some damage, but I see Liverpool taking advantage of some key mistakes and pushing to a 3-2 win.Want to see more training photos from our final session? 📸 See what happened today at Arsenal Training Centre 👇
