Bundesliga Betting: Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt – May 23

The Bundesliga returned last week in front of empty stadiums, and Bayern Munich showed that their form was still strong in a win over Union Berlin. Now they have a chance to create some more distance between themselves and the rest of the Bundesliga table. They lead Borussia Dortmund by four points after 26 matches, and Borussia Monchengladbach by six points. RB Leipzig is seven points back, and then Bayer Leverkusen is eight points back. So there is some clustering at the top, but Bayern Munich has a fairly reasonable opponent this week, as Eintracht Frankfurt is all the way down in 13th place, 30 points back of Bayern Munich.  Why should you put your money on Eintracht Frankfurt?

Eintracht Frankfurt did not come out of the gate strong after the COVID-19 shutdown. They hosted Borussia Monchengladbach, who got the scoring going in a hurry. Alassane Plea tallied in the game’s first minute followed by Marcus Thuram just six minutes later. Ramy Bensebaini converted a penalty in the 73rd minute, and the only thing keeping Eintracht Frankfurt from being shut out was a tally by Andre Silva in the 81st minute.

Eintracht Frankfurt actually possessed for 52 percent of the match but did most of their shooting from distance. The visitors led in shots, 17-14 (8-4 on target). The hosts had some difficulty keeping their composure, committing 19 fouls and drawing five yellow cards. Monchengladbach kept their heads and kept the hammer down for the win.

Why should you bet on Bayern Munich?

Bayern Munich went up to Berlin and dealt a clean sheet to Union. Robert Lewandowski scored from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, and then Benjamin Pavard added insurance when he scored in the 80th minute. The visitors were patient but applied consistent pressure throughout the entire match, not giving Union Berlin much room to operate.

For the match, Bayern Munich possessed 62 percent of the time, outshooting the hosts 10-7 (3-2 on target). Bayern Munich also forced nine corners, to just four for Union Berlin. The game was not particularly physical, with just 23 combined fouls. This is the sort of patient match that champions execute from start to finish. Now they get a chance to come home and do it to another team down the table.

Bayern vs Frankfurt Final Score Prediction

I’m not sure I put a whole lot of money down on this match. There’s not a lot of value to be gained in taking Bayern, but there’s nothing in recent form to suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt is capable of mounting the upset, or even forcing the draw. It is true that the stadium will be empty, but Bayern seemed to play just fine in that situation a week ago. I predict a final score of Bayern Munich 3, Eintracht Frankfurt 0.
