Getting out of the group stage of the Champions League is the goal of every team that enters, but it’s a brutal round that quickly kills the dreams of half the teams in the competition. Losing the opening 2 games of the group phase usually means instant death, but Arsenal are looking to resurrect their chances when they travel to Germany to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Soccer Odds and Game Preview: Arsenal vs Bayern Munich

Date: Wednesday, November 04th, 2015 Time: 2:45PM Venue: Allianz Arena, Munich It has to be said that things looked very bleak for Arsenal after the first 2 weeks of the group stage. Not only did they fall to defeat in those first two games, they were also forced to welcome in Bayern Munich, the team that many have tipped to win it all, in Matchday 3. The general consensus was that the Germans would roll to victory at the Emirates, but Arsenal showed a whole lot of grit and determination as they came away with a 2-0 win. That victory seems to have given the Gunners a real shot in the arm, as they have been very solid on the domestic front since picking up that unlikely win. There is no rest for the wicked, though, and now Arsenal have to find a way to get something out of the return game in Munich if they are to stay alive in Group F. They are not quite dead with a defeat, but that, paired with an Olympiakos win could see them pushed to the very brink. Robert-Lewandowski-celebrates-a-goal04 The loss on the road to Arsenal has pretty much been the only dark spot on what has been a fantastic season for Bayern Munich so far. They are already 5 points clear atop the Bundesliga, and rolled through the opening 2 games of the group stage of the Champions League without breaking much of a sweat. Perhaps Bayern have their sights set a little too hard on this match, as they put in a bit of a lackluster performance over the weekend, coming away from a trip to Eintracht Frankfurt with a 0-0 tie. That was one of the few times that Robert Lewandowski has been held off the board this season, as he failed to add to his tally of 17 goals in 16 games so far. Shutting down the Polish striker seems to be the key to success for Munich’s opponents this season, as Arsenal also got the win when they held him scoreless. That said, there is still Thomas Mueller to contend with even if Lewandowski can be stopped.

So, What Should You Bet On?

Arsenal are a desperate team, as they really need to get something out of this game if they hope to advance. It is going to have to be a strong defensive showing, as I expect Bayern Munich to have the vast majority of the possession. I do think this will be a tight, tense affair, though, and would not be surprised to see it end in a draw.
