ATP 250 Truist Atlanta Open Betting Preview

Written by on July 24, 2023

The Truist Atlanta Open has reached the round of 32 as we head into Monday. The hardcourt tournament takes place at Atlantic Station in Atlanta. The biggest name in the news from this field is hometown pro Christopher Eubanks, who is now in his eighth Atlanta Open. The buzz around Eubanks comes from his recent run at Wimbledon, where he made it all the way to the quarterfinals and pushed Daniil Medvedev to five sets, almost getting to the semifinals. Before Wimbledon, Eubanks won his first ATP tournament in Mallorca, Spain. Adjusting back from grass to hardcourt tennis might be Eubanks’ biggest obstacle. Check out the tennis betting odds for the top contenders as well as predictions for the matches on July 24.

Atlanta Open Matches for July 24

* Immediately following prior match

Ethan Quinn vs Aleksandar Vukic

1:00 pm ET

This is the first meeting between these two players. Vukic is currently ranked 83rd in the world, a career best, and he will compete for the first time since losing, 6-3, 7-6(6) in the first round at Newport on July 18. In 2023, he has a 38-22 record, including a 24-10 record on hardcourt surfaces. His best 2023 tournament was the Busan Challenger, where he stopped Max Purcell in the final to win the trophy, 6-4, 1-0 (ret.).

Quinn is ranked #434 in the world, also a career high. He advanced to the second round in Newport, where he lost, 6-4, 6-2 on July 19. In 2023, he has a 10-4 record, including 9-3 on hardcourt surfaces. He advanced to the final at the M25 Wichita in his best result of 2023. He has a 34-13 lifetime record on hardcourt surfaces (44-21 overall). Prediction: Vukic to win in two sets.

Bet on Ethan Quinn (+210) vs Aleksandar Vukic (-275)!

Lloyd Harris vs James Duckworth

2:20 pm ET*

Duckworth is ranked #128 in the world but is the underdog against 204th-ranked Harris. They are meeting in Atlanta for the first time. He stopped Mitchell Kruger (4-6, 7-6(10), 6-3) and Gijs Brouwer (6-2, 6-4) in qualifiers to get to the first round. In his win over Brouwer, he dealt out 19 winners and four aces. In 2023, Duckworth is 24-13 on hardcourt surfaces. His best 2023 tournament results have come at Challengers, as he advanced to the final at the Burnie, the Bengaluru and the Morelos Challengers.

Harris came through Donald Young (6-1, 6-2) and Michael Mmoh (6-2, 6-7(5), 7-6(2)) in qualifiers to get to the first round. Lloyd had 61 winners and 33 aces without a double fault in the win over Mmoh. In 2023, his best result was at the Nonthaburi 2 Challenger, where he made it to the final. Given the disparity in rankings and the same level of results so far in 2023, I’m going with the value. Prediction: Duckworth to win in three sets.

Bet on Lloyd Harris (-250) vs James Duckworth (+190)!

Gael Monfils vs Thanasi Kokkinakis

7:00 pm ET

This will be the second time that Monfils and Kokkinakis have met. Monfils won the first time, in the semis at Adelaide last year, also on hardcourt. Kokkinakis is ranked 88th in the world; his last match was a second-round loss at the Granby Challenger (7-6 (5), 2-0 (ret.). He has a 26-16 record in 2023, including 18-9 on hardcourt surfaces. He won the Manama Challenger title, taking down Abedallah Shelbayh, 6-1, 6-4, in the final.

Monfils is ranked #315 in the world; his last action came at the French Open, where he withdrew with a wrist injury, handing a walkover to Holger Rune in the second round. He had beaten Sebastian Baez in five sets in the first round. He has a 2-7 record so far in 2023, but on hardcourt surfaces, he is winless in three matches. For his career, he has a 227-124 record on hardcourt surfaces. Monfils had heel surgery in the off-season and is working his way through some adversity. I’m going with the veteran experience and the value. Prediction: Monfils to win in three sets.

Bet on Gael Monfils (+140) vs Thanasi Kokkinakis (-185)!

Jason Jung vs Jeffrey John Wolf

8:20 pm ET*

Wolf and Jung have played once before, as Wolf prevailed, 6-3, 6-4, in the second round of the Cleveland Challenger in 2019, but this will be their first hardcourt matchup. Wolf last played in the second round of Wimbledon, where he lost, 6-3, 7-6 (5), 6-0. He has an 18-16 record so far in 2023, going 6-6 on hardcourt surfaces. Advancing to the semis in Dallas has been Wolf’s best result in a 2023 tournament.

Jung came through Shintaro Mochizuki, 7-6(3), 6-4, and Gabriel Diallo, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(1) in qualifiers to get to the first round. In his win over Diallo, Jung had four aces and two double faults. In 2023, he has a 30-14 record, almost all of it coming on hardcourt surfaces (30-13). He has never advanced past the first round in Atlanta. Prediction: Wolf to win in two sets.

Bet on Jason Jung (+280) vs Jeffrey John Wolf (-400)!
