UFC 200 Odds Report on Daniel Cormier vs Anderson Silva

You might be tapping the screen to make sure this article is correct. Isn’t this supposed to be Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier? Not anymore, as UFC scratched Jones because of possible USADA violations and has added Anderson Silva at the last moment. The initial line was Cormier (-600) and Silva (+400) in the MMA odds, but matters have evened slightly. Silva is the longtime middleweight champ in UFC, but now he’s fighting in a 205-pound bout, so his 21st UFC bout will be the first one in which he is the underdog. He has admitted that he hasn’t been training — and he has no official wins in almost four calendar years.

Taking a Look at the UFC 200 Odds Report on Daniel Cormier vs Anderson Silva

When: Saturday, July 9, 2016 Where: T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas TV: FS1 / Pay-Per- View (depending on region) Radio: None Live Stream: UFC Fight Pass UFC Odds: Anderson Silva (+350) vs Daniel Cormier (-396)

Why should you bet on Silva?

If you think that Silva can keep the fight vertical and can overcome a lack of training, then you’ll be on him. After all, you stand to make huge money if you’re right. However, I can’t think of many situations at all in which a fighter with virtually no training enters the octagon against a heavier opponent and comes away with the win. In fact, the only one that comes to mind right now is James J. Braddock taking down “Corn” Griffin — after finding out the fight the day before. But that fight was 80 years ago, and not in the UFC.

Why should you put your money on Cormier?

Let’s see. Silva has no official wins in four years. He hasn’t been training. Cormier has been preparing to take on Jon Jones and now will have a much lesser contender. He will try to get Silva to the ground where he can make a meal out of him. Cormier is a wrestler of Olympic caliber, and if the bout moves down to the mat, things could be over in a hurry. Silva could get in a strike or two and turn the tide, but I don’t see it happening against a much bigger opponent.

Expert Betting Pick and Final Prediction

Silva will put up a fight in this bout against Cormier, but it won’t be enough. This isn’t Kevin James playing a biology teacher who is also fighting Ken Dietrich in Vegas. I like Cormier to win via stoppage.
