EURO 2024 Betting Odds & Round of 16 Matchups Lines

EURO 2024 Betting: Now that the group play stage is over at EURO 2024, the field of 24 has been trimmed to 16. None of the eight teams that have been sent home are particularly surprising, except for Croatia and perhaps Hungary and Serbia. Slovakia, Slovenia and Georgia have made it through to the last 16, where each team has +50000 odds to hoist the trophy as EURO 2024 champions. The round of 16 begins on Saturday, so let’s take a look at some matches that you must include in your online betting this weekend.

EURO 2024 Betting On Best Matches for the Weekend | Soccer Odds

Switzerland +235 vs Italy +145

When: Saturday, June 29, 12:00 pm ET
Euro Cup Odds: O/U 1.5

Switzerland finished group play unbeaten after a draw with Germany to round out their Group A action. They had an early lead but permitted a German goal in the late minutes. Dan Ndoye gave the Swiss the early lead, but Niclas Fullkrug equalized in stoppage time. Both teams advanced from group play. Their win over Hungary was followed by draws with Scotland and Germany, and they now have a six-tournament streak of advancing to the knockout rounds, dating back to 2014. However, in both the European Championships and World Cups, they have only advanced from the round of 16 to the quarterfinals once in seven tries, and it took penalties for them to advance that time. They have not beaten Italy since 1993 in a World Cup qualifier, a winless streak that has now reached 11 games.

Italy has some motivation here after a pair of draws with Switzerland that left the Azzurri watching from home during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Jorginho missed a penalty in each qualifying match, making the pain even more poignant. Italy barely avoided a playoff in EURO 2024 qualifying and then had to fight off Albania, 2-1, in their opener. Spain took them to the woodshed, and then they needed a late goal from substitute Mattia Zaccagni to salvage a draw against Croatia. Since 2004, though, the Azzurri have gotten to at least the quarterfinals of every EURO. Riccardo Calafori will not be on the back line after getting two yellow cards in group play for Italy, and the Swiss will not have Silvan Widmer. Other than that, both teams should have full rosters.

EURO Pick: Italy to advance.

Germany -159 vs Denmark +500

When: Saturday, June 29, 3:00 pm ET
Euro Cup Odds: O/U 2.5

Germany steamrolled the opposition in Group A; in fact, they clinched a spot in the last 16 after their first two matches, having dropped seven goals on Scotland and Hungary. The draw against Switzerland was all Die Mannschaft needed to win the group. Ironically, Switzerland looks to be on the easier side of the draw after coming in second in the group; Germany have Spin, France, Belgium and Portugal on their side of the bracket.

Denmark took second place in Group C, which set the lowest-scoring joint group play in men’s EUROs history with seven goals through six games. Denmark played to three draws in their matches and only scored two goals across their three matches. One of them was a blast from Morten Hjulmand against England, but other than that tally, the offense was tepid at best. One thing that Germany and Denmark have in common are seven-match unbeaten streaks across all competitions. The last time these two teams met competitively was at EURO 2012, when GErmany beat Denmark, 2-1. Since then, they have played a pair of friendlies that ended in 1-1 fashion. Germany to win.

EURO Pick: Germany to win.

England -245 vs Slovakia +850

When: Sunday, June 30, 12:00 pm ET
Euro Cup Odds: O/U 2.5

England made it to the final of EURO 2020 after winning Group C. They defeated Serbia and then drew Slovenia and Denmark. England entered EURO 2024 as the odds-on favorite, but a mostly absent offense – Harry Kane has just a shot off the woodwork to show for his group play so far. Against Slovakia, England has five wins and a tie in six all-time meetings; the last meeting was a sleeper of a 0-0 draw in group play at EURO 2016. Based on the moribund England offense so far, another scoreless draw (moving to penalties) is not beyond the realm of possibility. Harry Kane has six goals in his last six appearances in knockout-round matches in major tournaments, so it’s also possible that he will arrive.

Slovakia opened group play with a dramatic win over Belgium. However, they followed that up by losing to Ukraine and drawing with Romania, and they skated through to the round of 16 despite finishing in third place, as that opening win gave them three of their four points. Through qualifying for EURO 2024, Slovakia only lost twice in their 10 matches, with both setbacks coming against Portugal. Their commitment to an attacking style brought them 37 shots (13 on target) in group play, which set national records for a major tournament. At EURO 2020, they had just two shots on target in three group-play matches. England’s defense should tamp things down, though, and England’s low-octane offense has yet to show signs of life.

EURO Pick: Take the under.

France -115 vs Belgium +370

When: Monday, July 1, 12:00 pm ET
Euro Cup Odds: O/U 1.5

In a rematch of one of the 2018 World Cup semifinals, France meet Belgium in the round of 16. Both teams came in second in their groups after settling for head-scratching draws on the last day of group play. France drew Poland, 1-1, as Kylian Mbappe converted a penalty for Les Bleus, only for Robert Lewandowski to return the favor – needing two attempts as the goalkeeper came off his line early. Now France are on the same side of the bracket as Spain, Germany and Portugal. The best sign was that France only permitted one goal through group play.

Belgium entered EURO 2024 aware of the relative age of their roster, but few expected them to post just two goals in Group E play. All four teams in that group had the same number of points, the first time that had happened in European Championship history. The Belgians followed up their shocking loss to Slovakia with a 2-0 win over Romania. Ukraine held them to a scoreless draw. Now Belgium have lost just once in their last 18 matches across all tournaments – but that loss came to Slovakia. France beat Belgium in those 2018 World Cup semis, 1-0, and again in a 2021 Nations League semifinal, 3-2. Neither team is doing much on offense, but the French edge in talent should prove decisive.

EURO Pick: France to win.

Portugal -255 vs Slovenia +750

When: Monday, July 1, 3:00 pm ET
Euro Cup Odds: O/U 2.5

No team had fewer points from group play than Slovenia, but Slovenia also came through unbeaten with three draws, including that scoreless snoozer against England. Just getting through is enough, though, because there really hasn’t been a dominant-looking team in this field. Portugal have considerable talent and depth, but they’re coming in off a morose 2-0 loss to Georgia.

Getting to the knockout rounds tends to wake up the talent, though, separating those from those who are happy to be here. Slovenia were able to skate through the niceties of group play, benefiting from sleepy offenses throughout their whole group. Now, though, they face a highly talented Portuguese side that will certainly have awakened after all of the press excoriating them for that setback against Georgia.

EURO Pick: Portugal to win.

EURO 2024, Games for Weekend

EURO 2024 Betting: It wouldn’t be European soccer if we didn’t have disruptive fan chanting, and EURO didn’t disappoint. Croatian and Albanian fans were chanting back and forth, yelling out messages hostile to Serbia, and the Serbian side threatened to leave EURO Cup if UEFA did not intervene.

After drawing 2-2 and 1-1 in their first two group play matches, Serbia may not have much time left on its EURO 2024 clock as it is. It also wouldn’t be European soccer if England didn’t fail to live up to expectations; the EURO 2024 betting favorites got lulled into a 1-1 draw by Denmark.

Things started out well for the Three Lions as Harry Kane turned a deflected cross from Kyle Walker into a goal in the 18th minute. He now has 13 goals for England in major tournaments, a national record.

However, Morten Hjulmand drew the Danes level 16 minutes later, finding the back of the English net from almost 24 yards away. Denmark had more tackles, forced more corners and completed more passes than the favorites.

Going into the weekend, let’s look at matches you should prioritize in your sports betting.

EURO 2024 Betting On Best Matches for the Weekend | Soccer Odds

Poland +280 vs Austria +100

When: Friday, June 21
Euro Cup Odds: Draw +245, O/U 2.5

Poland cannot get into the top two if they lose this match and then France either win or draw. Austria faces a similar problem if they lose to Poland and then the Netherlands get a win or draw.

Both nations started EURO 2024 with losses, as the Netherlands stopped Poland, 2-1, and France eked out a 1-0 win over Austria. Poland jumped out to an early lead with a header from adam Buksa, and it looked like Poland had found offense without Robert Lewandowski.

Poland did put seven shots on target but allowed the Dutch 21, and when Wout Weghorst delivered the winner for the Netherlands, the result seemed like the right one. Poland saw an eight-match unbeaten streak end and still do not know if Lewandowski will dress for Austria.

Austria’s seven-match undefeated streak also ended thanks to an own goal in the first half from Max Weber. Kylian Mbappe had his nose broken for France, but Austria’s ability to keep the mighty French offense out of their net was impressive.

Austria maintained the pressure all the way to the end, but simply could not finish. These two teams have not met since 2019, in a two-leg EURO 2020 qualifier tie, but Austria has markedly improved since then.

EURO Pick: Austria to win

Netherlands +230 vs France +125

When: Friday, June 21
Euro Cup Odds: Draw +230, O/U 2.5

Either team would qualify for the round of 16 with a win, and depending on the outcome of the Poland-Austria outcome. Netherlands battled back gamely against Poland, only needing 13 minutes to draw level thanks to a deflection by Cody Gakpo.

Weghorst delivered that winner in the 83rd minute. The only loss that the Dutch have suffered in their last eight fixtures came in a 2-1 friendly setback against Germany.

However, France took Netherlands to the woodshed in EURO 2024 qualifying, routing them 4-0 at home and also taking a white-knuckled 2-1 win in prelims.

The French have also found a new defensive note, with three clean sheets in a row after having a propensity for giving up too many easy goals. Netherlands did rout France at EURO 2008, 4-1, in group play, but France have won the last two matchups at EURO finals.

EURO Pick: France to win

EURO 2024 Betting Slovakia +275 vs Ukraine +110

When: Friday, June 21
Euro Cup Odds: Draw +230, O/U 2.5

Slovakia qualifies for the round of 16 with a win, and if Romania win or draw against Belgium, Slovakia would clinch a spot in the top two. A Ukraine loss here keeps them from grabbing an automatic place, but if Belgium lose to Romania, that Ukraine-Belgium match would be for third place.

These odds seem a little skewed given that Slovakia beat Belgium in their opener, while Ukraine found itself on the wrong end of a beating by Romania.

Slovakia got their goal from Ivan Schranz, while Romelu Lukaku saw two goals taken off the board, including the handball call that set aside his goal in the 86th minute.

They have posted clean sheets in three straight matches, even though this last clean sheet was a bit spotted with Lukaku’s big chances.

Ukraine held possession for more than 70% in their opener against Romania, but they only leveraged that into two shots on goal.

Not only that, but they also have three wins and three draws in their last seven matches against Slovakia, although they did fall 4-1 in their most recent showdown, back in 2018 at the UEFA Nations League.

EURO Pick: Slovakia to win

Belgium -213 vs Romania +600

When: Saturday, June 22
Euro Cup Odds: Draw +350, O/U 2.5

Romania are through with a victory and are in the top two for sure if Slovakia can beat or draw Ukraine. Belgium really needs to step up in this match to keep control of their destiny. It definitely seemed like Belgium had a manageable group until that loss.

Ivan Schranz tallied in the seventh minute off a rebound. That was the Red Devils’ first loss since 2022, when they lost to Morocco at the 2022 World Cup.

The good news is that Belgium have not lost multiple matches at one EURO since 2000, and they have not dropped two straight matches to open any major tournament since the inaugural World Cup – 94 years ago.

However, Romania are playing with house money and will have all the motivation on their side.

Ukraine net minder Andriy Lunin made two disastrous blunders, and those helped Nicolae Stanciu and Razvan Marin to bury the ball in the net from distance, and then Denis Dragus added the insurance tally as Romania notched its biggest victory ever at a EURO.

Furthermore, they also beat Belgium the last time they met – but that was back in 2012 in a friendly. Belgium should recover.

EURO Pick: Belgium to win

EURO 2024 Betting Switzerland +380 vs Germany -145

When: Sunday, June 23
Euro Cup Odds: Draw +290, O/U 2.5

A draw gets the Swiss through into the round of 16 as the second-place team in Group A. If they win, they win the group. The Swiss could still get through on goal differential with a loss, but the other two outcomes would keep them in control of their own destiny.

The Swiss settled for a 1-1 draw with Scotland, while Germany skated to a win in their group play opener. The Swiss saw Fabian Schar break his nose early against Scotland but finish the match.

The Swiss beat Die Mannschaft back in a 2012 friendly, 5-3, and their last two meetings have ended in draws. I see Switzerland pushing hard while the Germans play a conservative match.

EURO Pick: Take the draw
