Betting Euro 2024 & Prediction Group A Finish: Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Scotland
Germany is the only team that have qualified for the round of 16 on the strength of their two wins in group play (5-1 over Scotland and 2-0 over Hungary). That +6 goal differential means that Switzerland would have to beat Germany and Scotland to win the group.
If they tie Germany, they would need a goal differential higher than +6 to win the group. Scotland got a dynamic performance in EURO 2024 qualification and even beat Spain along the way. This is not a team that has much in the way of star power, but they have chemistry and energy that will help them.
Taking that beating from Germany wasn’t a good start, but they could still come out second in the group with two wins. Switzerland are picked to finish in the top two in this group, and they have considerable experience in international tournament play, whereas Scotland is largely just glad to be here.
Hungary has been viewed as a potential dark horse based on their Nations League play. They have shown the ability to find the back of the net against difficult opponents, although we’re still waiting to see that offensive onslaught here.
Euro Betting Prediction & Group B Finish: Spain, Italy, Croatia, Albania
Italy, of course, are the defending EURO champions, and manager Luciano Spaletti is one of the most gifted on the continent. However, the talent pool has dropped since the last European Championships.
That win over Albania could have been easily 3-1 or 4-1 with better finishes, but it also could have gone horribly wrong had Albania not stopped delivering pressure. Albania is another team just happy to be here, but that draw against Croatia may have been their best shot at getting a EURO win.
This is a side that played a scoreless draw against the Faroe Islands in 2023, so the bar is low. Croatia eliminated Brazil from the 2022 World Cup, a team that has shown it can hit well above its weight class. The draw against Albania really hurts, though, as Croatia will be challenged to get more than a point each out of their matches with Spain and Italy.
Spain is one of the strongest contenders here, as they dominate possession match in and match out. Their weakness is in finishing as they do not always find the back of the net. They will have to replace Gavi’s productivity.
Prediction, Euro 2024 Betting & Group C Finish: England, Serbia, Denmark, Slovenia
Serbia played entertaining matches at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but only managed a single point for their troubles. Aleksandar Mitrovic is the side’s all-time leading scorer, and despite that opening loss to England, this is a team that could bounce back and get to the round of 16.
Denmark got to the EURO semifinals last time around, but their World Cup showing in Qatar was disappointing. There are several Danes who took part in the Champions League, but overall, the talent level might not be enough to get out of this group.
England has Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane, which is why they are the favorites to win. Only beating Serbia by a goal was a surprise, but this is a team that should zip through this group. Slovenia finished in the top two in their qualifying group but enter EURO 2024 as huge underdogs.
Euro Betting Prediction & Group D Finish: France, Netherlands, Austria, Poland
Poland did get by Wales and Estonia in qualifying play-off matches, but beyond Robert Lewandowski, the scoring power here is negligible. Netherlands should roll through group play, thanks to the stout defense from Liverpool center back Virgl van Dijk.
France won the World Cup in 2018 and were the runners-up at EURO 2020. Their match with the Netherlands might be the only intriguing matchup in this group. Austria made it to the round of 16 at EURO 2020, and manager Ralf Rangnick found an unusually high scoring energy in this group in this year’s EURO qualifying.
He’s decided to stay with the national team instead of taking an offer from Bayern Munich, and the team’s enthusiastic response could propel them to a third-place finish, high enough to get into the last 16.
Betting Euro Prediction & Group E Finish: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine
Belgium are an elderly team now, and despite Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne, this is a team that has to work extremely hard to get its chances, as we saw in their shocking loss to Slovakia. Slovakia have manager Francesco Calzona, who also guides Serie A side Napoli.
They did finish five points above Luxembourg in qualification, which makes any glory they win in group play all gravy. Romania did not have any wins at EURO 2016 and were predicted to get sent home in group play, but all they did was deliver a 3-0 rout of Ukraine in their opener and now is a win over Slovakia from advancing.
Ukraine would love to get to the knockout rounds after eliminating Iceland in a qualifying playoff. Their winger Mykhailo Mudryk is the man to watch, but that beating at the hands of Romania was not a good sign.
Euro 2024 Betting Prediction & Group F Finish: Portugal, Czechia, Turkey, Georgia
Turkey have Serie A star Hakan Calhanoglu and should have little problem coming out of Group F. However, the difference between talent on paper and tournament performance has been large for Turkey in recent years, including EURO 2020.
Georgia are making their international tournament debut after stopping Greece in a play-off. Khicha Kvaratskhelia is the side’s best player, plying his craft for Napoli. Czechia finished in second in their qualifying group and has about the same odds as Turkey when it comes to getting through.
Turkey’s talent level is higher, but they also have a higher chance of underperforming. Then there’s Portugal, far and above the most talented team in this group.
