Many of the top players in women’s professional tennis are in United Arab Emirates for the WTA Dubai Open. This event concludes in February 24, with the men’s tournament to follow next week. At this writing, we have made it to the Round of 16, but two of the top five seeds have already crashed out of the tournament. Let’s take a quick look at each of the eight matchups to come on Wednesday as you consider your tennis betting options.
WTA Tennis Odds: 2024 Dubai Open Betting Prediction for Round of 16 Pairings
Marketa Vondrousova vs Liudmila Samsonova
Wednesday, February 21
3:00 am ET
Vondrousova had dropped six straight matches before the Qatar Masters last week, where she beat Greet Minnen despite inconsistent play before losing to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She opened in Dubai with a three-set win over Peyton Stearns. Liudmila Samsonova is a tougher opponent, and she is well rested after getting to the round of 16 in a walkover. Samsonova got to the semi-finals of the Abu Dhabi Open two weeks ago. Samsonova to win.
Maria Sakkari vs Jasmine Paolini
Wednesday, February 21
3:00 am ET
Sakkari moved to a new coach before this tournament, and she beat Emma Navarro in straight sets here in the round of 32. Her last title came in September at the Guadalajara Masters (against a fairly soft field). Paolini comes in on the momentum of two solid wins over Beatriz Haddad-Maia and Leylah Fernandez. Sakkari to win.
Jelena Ostapenko vs Anna Kalinskaya
Wednesday, February 21
4:15 am ET
Ostapenko is ranked ninth in the world, and she has two WTA titles in 2024 (Linz and Adelaide). The only player who has beaten her this season is Victoria Azarenka, and Azarenka is no longer in the bracket. Ostapenko sent Lulu Sun home in straight sets, but Kalinskaya represents an upgrade in competition. She beat Cristina Bucsa in straight sets in the round of 32 and made it to he quarters of the Australian Open before she lost to Qinwen Zheng, the eventual champion.Ostapenko to win.
Magdalena Frech vs Elena Rybakina
Wednesday, February 21
4:30 am ET
Frech advanced with a three-set win over Petra Martic. She also made it to the round of 16 at the Australian Open, so her career seems to be on the rise. However, Rybakina is ranked fourth in the world and was the runner-up at the Qatar Masters, losing to Iga Swiatek in the finals on Saturday. She did lose the first set to Azarenka in the round of 32 before bouncing back to win the second and then advancing when Azarenka had to retire due to injury, but it seems safe to bet that her scare is behind her. Rybakina to win.

Coco Gauff vs Karolina Pliskova
Wednesday, February 21
4:45 am ET
Gauff got to the round of 16 by beating elisabetta Cocciaretto in straight sets. That snapped a two-match skid by Gauff, who had lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the semis in Melbourne and then taken an upset loss to Katerina Siniakova in her opener at Doha last week. She now has 50 wins in her last 51 matches against players outside the Top 50. Pliskova needed three sets to get by Ashlyn Krueger on Tuesday. She has won 11 matches over the last 15 days, moving from #78 in the world to #36 in the process. She won a title in Cluj-Napoca and reached the semis in Doha before withdrawing due to injury. These two have met twice, splitting the wins, but never on hard court. Pliskova to win.
Sorana Cirstea vs Donna Vekic
Wednesday, February 21
5:30 am ET
Vekic was down a tiebreak before coming back to knock off 2-seed Aryna Sabalenka, who was playing for the first time since winning the Australian Open. Vekic had lost in the semis at Linz as she continues a stretch of improvement. Cirstea rolled over Veronika Kudermetova in straight sets in the round of 32. Vekic to win.
Iga Swiatek vs Elina Svitolina
Wednesday, February 21
10:00 am ET
The last time these two met, Svitolina upset the world’s top-ranked player in the quarters at Wimbledon. Swiatek is better on hard courts than on grass, but these courts run fast, which could pressure Swiatek. Swiatek to win.
Anastasia Potapova vs Qinwen Zheng
Wednesday, February 21
11:15 am ET
Zheng needed three sets to stop qualifier Nao Hibino in the round of 32, narrowly avoiding a loss that would have significantly impacted her ranking (currently seventh in the world). Potapova only dropped three games in her straight-sets win over Lucia Bronzetti – and she already has a win over Zheng, back in the round of 16 at the Miami Open almost a year ago. Potapova to win.
